Story of the Spinebill

The Eastern Spinebill is a small Australian native honeyeater.

They are found in dry forest, scrub, heath and woodland from the Cooktown area in North Queensland, through New South Wales east of the Great Dividing Range, through Victoria and into the Flinders Ranges in eastern South Australia as well as throughout Tasmania.

This little bird hovers from flowers to flowers, adapts well with its environment, has a unique ability to fly in any direction and when the Spinebill sings it brings joy and beauty in our heart.

The Spinebill bird reminds us to pause, to enjoy the sweetness of life and to live in the moment.

When life is challenging, the Spinebill bird can show us tenacity, adaptability, sweetness and inspiration.

We chose the symbol of the Spinebill to highlight the journey of Resilience, Joy and Inspiration in people’s life.

Coordinator for Resilience Respite STA stay

"My vision is to help participants to foster their well being, self-worth and resilience whenever I can."

I have a wide range of experiences working as an Art Therapist in a small private practice and as a NDIS support care worker. Every day, I like meeting the diversity of people and responding to what’s present and arising the best way I can.

As life brings about the ups and downs, joys and challenges, I gently guide participants to stay grounded and focused to continue walking towards their goals.

I also like using creativity and mindfulness to engage and increase the participant's well being.

Anneke de Wilt - Lead Therapeutic Behaviour Support Practitioner

My daughter Liahna suffers from significant anxiety and social anxiety, following a relationship breakdown, with her then 2 year old toddler.  Liahna found Emilie to be friendly and quietly spoken, with a beautiful French accent, to be just the type of person that she had been looking for.  Emilie shows initiative in finding ways to get Liahna out and about and to encourage Liahna to be involved with workshops, some of which her twin Sister was able to attend as well, that are in line with Liahna's wishes and creative pursuits.  Emilie is very proactive in finding ways to help stimulate and encourage Liahna to become more social.  Emilie has helped Liahna in many various ways, such as attending workshops with her, taking her shopping or going out for lunch, including assisting in a clean up around the place Liahna is living for rental inspection, driving Liahna everywhere, even an hour and a half away, for specific reasons, when Emilie is able to.  Emilie also helps Liahna to look after, or play, with her now nearly 4 year old son, when Liahna finds situations overwhelming, or when she needs a little break to compose herself again.  Emilie has been of significant benefit and value to Liahna and Liahna looks forward to the time that she spends with Emilie.   I thank Emilie for helping Liahna in so many ways and having such a positive impact on her life.
